Judy Temple

Community Engagement and Development Coordinator

Judith Verbits-Temple, B.A., M.Ed, serves as Community Engagement and Development Coordinator for the William R. Sinkin Eco Centro, an environmental and sustainability outreach organization that maintains three urban farms in San Antonio and conducts numerous garden and home efficiency workshops for the community.  Her role at Eco Centro focuses on organizing youth education programs; grant writing and fundraising; and building community partnerships.  

Judy is the chief garden steward of the Terrell Heights Community Garden and has long been involved with the Green Spaces Alliance (GSA) network of community gardens in San Antonio.  As an avid gardener and GSA network member, she has organized garden workshops and public awareness events promoting land conservation, community gardening, and youth engagement with nature. In her spare time, Judy mentors other community gardens in the city, providing financial assistance, volunteer coordination, and garden management support.

She is a retired teacher with over 18 years of experience in teaching English, Spanish, and adult literacy.  She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Foreign Language Education from the University of Maryland and a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Texas in Austin.

When not playing in the dirt, Judy enjoys hiking, going on bike rides, and exploring the outdoors with her family.
